    Chippewa Flowage

Planning a trip for July. Never been to this area. Is the smallmouth fishing good? Any advice? I won’t be bringing my boat but will rent one.
    thanks!

the chip is good for smallies but there are other lakes in the area that are much better. I would start with LCO or Round if I was looking for good smallies.

I just got back from a week long trip there. Hopefully the boat you rent has a locator/GPS with a lake chip. You can easily get turned around and there are a lot of spots where you can run into shallow water. As for the fishing, I caught a lot more smallies than I have caught on previous trips. Smallies, northerns, and largemouth were all in the spots I was fishing. I was mainly pitching soft plastics around the edges of bogs and cattails and then throwing a spinnerbait around weed edges and shorelines.
