    2007 200hpdi thoughts?

Found a boat I want to go look at in very good shape. Has a 2007 200 hpdi on it. 120 original hours. Boat is spotless from what I can tell. Is this a reliable motor? Anything to look for?

What type of 200 HPDI? What is the model?

They can be very reliable. They can be a ticking time bomb.

Some never have a problem with them. Some have problem after problem after problem.

200 hpdi 3.3L, may be worth noting he has owned it since new and only been in the shop once for an idle sensor.

I am guessing that it is a VZ200.

14 years old. Low hours. Gonna be a crap shoot. If the price is right, and you love the boat, might be worth the gamble.

Certainly operate the boat to ensure the motor starts, idles and runs well. Compression test never hurts. Maybe borescope the top of the pistons to see what might be seen.

If you decide to buy it there are some things you can do to help prevent the problem for which the big block VZ HPDI's are known.
