    Rear Compartment Tubs Rubbing Fiberglass

The rear compartment tubs rub on the fiberglass. Has anyone put a tape or something over the bottom lip of the tubs to prevent the rubbing?

Can you sand those lips down a little so that doesn't happen?

I'm sure sanding them would help. I thought about just putting a strip of duct tape along the contact edge. Not sure how long that would last though.

There is a YouTube video out there on Z21 boat review after season of use. He notes some rubbing of rear battery access lid and used heavy duty clear protective automotive tape. He mentioned they use it on cars for doors and jam areas to prevent scuff or ding marks. He also put some very thin weather strip on top of that to protect the finish. Apparently worked for him.

Clear Vinyl. Easier to work with and no residue like tape.

How are you using the clear vinyl? Taping it to the tubs or just using pressure from the tubs to keep it in place?

My understanding it has an adhesive side but can be removed and repositioned later if needed. They use it on the lower door jam of some cars to keep scuff marks down. I ordered some on-line in 1" and 2" size. I'm going to try it and see how it works out.

Okay, that makes sense. I will get ahold of some and try it out.

I use it in my splash well to protect the gel coat were the rigging tube touches. Also have it on my consoles where the rod locker lids rub against them. I just know you can take it off and there is not any real issue with residue.
