    521 vx setup

Picked up my first ranger last week and took it out Saturday. 68.5mph around 5700 didn’t really catch the tach to know for sure and I didn’t have much to line it out any better with boat traffic etc. 250 pro xs with a 4 blade trophy with 6” manual setback. I’ll be swapping out prop with some other props I have which are 25 fury, 25 t plus and 26 t plus. Question is what’s a good prop to pad height?

3-1/2" ,,,up/down 1/4" increments to find sweet spot.

The blue printed 25 Tempest was the best prop for my 2 stroke 21 foot Rangers.

Right on thanks fellas. My other question is on the pvs I have 2 full plugs in and the other 2 have small holes in the middle. What’s the best combo for exhaust vents?

No way to tell that,it depends on your load. Just trial and error to get it right.

26p t plus was the best. 5600 @ 72.4 and 5900-6k @ 74.7. Speed was still climbing but boat lane stretch wasn’t straight enough.

Another 2+ mph and you will be running my speeds. I run a special 25 tempest.

I don’t think that’s to bad for a ranger. Fastest I’ve ever been in one anyways. I ran the 25 fury and the boat seemed to lift and hold a lot better. Definitely had a different feeling while driving. But overall I’ll learn to drive what I got and see how I improve.

right now the center of my pad is splitting the dead center of my nose cone pickups. I can make it up to 74.7mph 25lbs of wp at about 5900-6000 rpm with 26p tempest plus. That’s cool and all but doesn’t mean I’m set right. So where does the 3 1/2” come into play cause right now with a straight edge I pretty much 0” or dead center and I have 1 1/2” of down left on my jack plate. Also when I’m at that speed I have no rooster tail which I know above the motor I’m losing but I’m flat unless I over trim and once I get up on plane I notice a fan spray from the prop so that tells me I’m to high. But tournament load I’m gone quick and hole shot is 3-4 seconds. Just curious if I need to adjust or leave well enough alone. Thanks

Sounds like you got r skint back pretty good there ol son. Reckon you got a torque master lower. Raise r up some see what happens. That nose cone torque might be messin r up a bit. Let r eat.
