Funny that this shows up today as today I was talking to an ex Tomcat pilot today and we were agreeing tanks are not up to a modern war , just like in Iraq they were eliminated almost immediately . Five of those OLD fashion A-10's would have ended WW2 in a week .

I used to look forward to seeing those bad boys fly over 4-6 at a time when I was a kid in Michigan. It’s too bad they pulled them out of Battle Creek.

I used to see a few in this area, not so much anymore, I loved to see them in the air. I would sure hate to have them hunting me.

Yep. Flying out of Selfridge ANG, they are a constant around Anchor Bay on St. Clair.

Interesting..... During the Vietnam War 2,720 Tankers (Armor Crewman) with MOS Enlisted 11E10,20,40 and Officers MOS 1203 served. 725 were KIA this represents a 27% Loss Rate. The highest loss of any MOS during the war. Although Infrantry had higher losses the were more troops on the ground.

The A10 is by far my favorite plane to watch fly. They make flyovers down at Brookville lake in Southeastern Indiana. That's my home lake I guess. I saw two of them Thursday, flying down the lake maybe 500 feet above the water. Quite a show!
