Nice to see a review of an Allison for a change!! That textured area on the inside of the boat is all fiberglass, never find any plastic on an Allison. The set up on that xb-21 needs some work, no way she should be walking like that at slower speeds. I would want the Sportmaster lower unit if it was mine, gives you more confidence when raising the jack plate where it needs to be. As Lee Sanderson told me, "Stay off the trim, use the jack plate until the water pressure starts to drop and DON'T CHOP THE THROTTLE" ;)

I drove one with a 300, nothing in the boat but the starting battery. It didn't even have the TM mounted yet....what a ride!!! About 86 MPH I learned why they call it "washing the rub rails" LOL. They are an amazing boat!

Describe what happens if you chop the throttle? Do you crash and burn or just wish you never did it?

Chopping the throttle on a bass boat that is walking at high speed is a recipe for disaster, when it drops off pad, the keel drops into the water, it can cause the boat to go crazy, it can cause a violent event know as bow hook, Bow hook is extremely dangerous, the bow starts to steer the boat and the motor has no control over the direction of travel. The boat will make a 90 degree turn on a dime and can eject you from the boat, tremendous g-forces come into play. On boats such as bullet and Allison you sit down in the boat not up on top of the boat, the sudden, at speed 90 degree turn will more than likely slam you into the gunnel, that would be like hitting a brick wall at what ever speed the boat is traveling.

I have too when I was purposely lowering my bow down with trim to clean the scum line off my keel. Was only going about 35 or 40 but still scary. Won't be doing that again.
