    2007 Merc 90HP 4 banger

Hit a stump idling along...it pushed the motor up so hard my trim stopped working. Repair guy says that it busted the trim cylinder and you can't just by the cylinder anymore and have to buy the whole tilt and trim kit which is almost 1k. Anyone had anything similar to this?

Most components (including an updated version of the tilt cylinder) are still available separately.

HOWEVER: This particular system does have a tendency toward problems in the check valves and valve body. Many shops refuse to "repair" them because of this.

While it's possible to buy a complete cylinder: By the time you add labor, other needed components, and the cost of the cylinder together, you're really not far off from a complete trim assembly (which is covered by a 1-year Parts and Labor warranty).
