Ladder installation 2011 Tracker Pro Guide 175 wt

I want to install a ladder on the back of my boat. I removed the rear decking and found it was filled with hard foam. Can I cut it out so I can access the rear and just put it back in; or should I spray new foam to replace it? I purchased a Garelick 19684, so I don’t have to go below the water line. Any help is appreciated.

I am interested in how this goes for you and what advice everyone offers - I just bought the same ladder for a 2016 Pro Guide V16 WT. I have not gotten as far as you have, so I have no idea if there is foam in mine or not. I do have some 1/2" aluminum stock from an old project handy in the event I need to make a backer plate.
