    Smaller menu's?

Has anyone noticed less items on the menu that they have now. It seem's the steak house's in the Casino's have smaller menu's and other's as well.

It all happened when the pandemic hit and restaurants closed down, to open they could not have as large of a menu with the much smaller cliental.

Smaller menu also means fewer staff to do prep, etc. When customers and labor return to normal, you might see the menus expanding again....

I've noticed that places I really liked are no where near as good also.

I hate a very large menu. Do a few things but do them well.

Yep, I've seen it too. Also due to COVID.

Exactly! This is why so many restaurants fail to begin with!

this. With a larger menu there’s less consistency, food isn’t as fresh and the finished quality often is subpar. With smaller menus the chefs can focus on a making high quality options and have better control over freshness. It also reduces the amount of time people need to look over a menu too. I’d rather go to a place that offers maybe 10 entrees that be provided a 4 page menu.

First time we really experienced this was on our honeymoon at Sandals in St Lucia. Each place only had 4-8 main course dishes, but they were all done exceptionally well. Talking with the staff they said it’s so the chefs can maintain quality and freshness of food. The more options they have the more food has to be frozen or precooked then heated in a microwave.

Local news just did a story on this the other day. Said it was due to rising costs of foods and ingredients.....In other words, the lower profit margin selections were cut and the higher money makers were kept.

I am a fan of the show Restaurant Impossible, one of the things Chef Robert Irvine preaches when working with these struggling businesses is to have a smaller menu and use fresh ingredients. He shows them how it reduces food costs, increases profits, and gets people their meals faster so more people can be seated for dining every day.

I prefer a smaller menu as well, I'd rather you do a few things really well instead of offering me a ton of different things.

    Limited hours as well.

my wife was at a well known retail store yesterday. When she checked out she said the cashier was on the phone, when she hung up the cashier just started crying. My wife being my wife asked what was bothering her. She told. My wife that was somebody calling in sick and now she could not keep the place open after 3:00. She told my wife no one wanted to work and it was going to cost her the job. I’m not sure if Zaxbys ever opened for dining indoors here? Limited menus and hours are a direct result of Covid. BW3 here closed this week because supposedly three staff tested positive.

ive been jacking around with Window World since Nov 2020, they supposedly only have one install crew working here right now. The lead installer is a firefighter so I’m constantly getting g excuse texts why he is not here because of his other job. I’ve talked with the franchise owner, he can’t crap qualified installers.

Thankfully our household income is up enough to absorb all the increases.

Notice how little attention our media is giving these issues while it’s supposedly a good idea to spend trillions more fixing roads with crews that are almost nonexistent.

    Honestly,

I prefer going to restaurants with a smaller meu. The places that specialize in seasonal dishes.

My opinion is I should not be able to order a cheeseburger at a restaurant that specializes in fish and I shouldn't be able to order an Italian dish at a American steak house etc. I want a menu that gives me what you are specialized in so I order something good.

Too many things on a menu causes many restaurants to fail!
