    manitou

guys I have a tourn up there in about a month, and have never been to the lake. was hoping someone could give me a basic description, characteristics and any navigational hazards to be on the look out for. I have heard the launch area is shallow and there are a ton of pleasure boaters(like everywhere else). plan on a scouting trip in a couple weeks

    thanks

If dnr ramp channel to lake is narrow. If town ramp the whole bay is shallow. I usually just go out straight and take route to go between pads and islands on that ramp.

Most hazards are around the islands, and a marked rock pile in back end of lake.

Haven’t been since spring so no idea how much weeds this year. Was very weedy but then they found invasive milfoil and killed it off for last decade. Have that fixed so allowing native grass to grow again.

Where the salaam buoys are, the bay there is very shallow. Marked entrance to it, bottom is soft but spots you can ground the boat.

Are there good areas to fish that are away from heavy boat traffic?

Not a terrible amount of boat traffic until you hit the afternoon hours usually. There is one fairly long channel that has some deeper water in it that can be good, can also suck. Gets fished heavily.
