Nineteen foot+ fiberglass boats are not getting any love from a number of manufacturers. Everyone seems to be pushing 20's and 21's. I was at the Classic Expo and asked Keith Daffron at Vexus if they were going to do a VX-19 and he said there were no plans to do one within the next year and when I asked him why he said it was not profitable enough (not enough markup/price point spread available)as the only difference between a VX20 and a VX19 would be a foot and a half of fiberglass .... so there is almost no cost difference to them to produce a 19 versus a 20, and they would have to be really close in price, so most people would buy the 20. There is more cost difference in materials/labor between a 19 and a 20 in their fiberglass infused/aluminum hybrid (AVX) line, so that is where they offer both. I enjoyed our conversation and respect his explanation.
