My Lowrance Sensor is on the top of my Bow. Hope this helps...
Make sure you test the area you are thinking about installing it for magnetic interference (hand held compass should point north). I put mine on the starboard stern. I wanted it up near the bow but on my boat I couldn't find a "clean" spot.
Also, you may want to consider a spot near the transducer for the graph you are connecting the sensor to
