    2001 HPDI 175 Shuts down

My friend has a 175 HPDI on a 19' Skeeter. Issue started, when first started for the day it would run then hiccup a couple times then run fine. Now when he goes to get on plane it will just shut off. We noticed that the low oil light came on so we checked both reservoirs and there is plenty of oil in both. Sometimes after this happens you can restart, other times nothing happens when you turn the key to start. No alarm sounds when the low oil light comes on. Any ideas what to check? My thought is there is an issue with the oil delivery from the oil tank on the engine, but my knowledge of how outboards work is very limited. He has a service appointment two weeks away.

    thanks

I would check every electrical connection. Disconnect, inspect and reconnect them. Maybe spritz contact cleaner on those you can't get to. For ring terminals scuff the terminal and mounting point with an abrasive pad.
Both ends of both battery cables.

2001, I’d check the oil pump in the external oil reservoir
