    Gaston

Headed up with the family for a week. Going to be taking the boat and hopefully fishing a few hours in the evening and maybe morning. Only been on the lake one time prior, anyone with any pointers would be appreciated, not looking for spots just general advice. Have most of the fish moved out deep or they still shallow? Hopefully can put the kiddos on a few fish. Thanks in advance.

What area of the lake will you be on or around? You can catch the spotted bass anywhere just about.

That's what I've heard, we will be in Stonehouse creek area, so I'd say midlake?

Shad spawns happening scattered around the lake so be looking for it.

Topwater (you pick it, buzz/frog/spook/poppers) early and late in and around the bank grass on lower 1/2 of lake is great choice.
Senko/shakeyhead on docks once sun is up is almost a guarantee.
Drop shot on dock poles if its really tough, flat worm style baits will do in natural colors, usually spotted bass and in numbers.
Chatterbait/swim jig in/around the grass or under docks is a great way to get a better bite.
She's clear right now, very clear. Main lake boat traffic will nearly ruin your fishing plans after about 10AM each day, stay safe.
Keep way up lake in the river past the traffic if they run water from Kerr and main lake is no good.
