    Question Which units for new boat...?

    Ordering a new boat soon and I'm still undecided which units / layout to go with... I'll be running the SeaClear power harness and I'll have (5) X2 31 series AGM's, two of which will be ran parallel to power electronics.

    Option 1:

    Bow = Solix 15 G3 and Solix 12 G3, one dedicated to Mega 360 and the other Mega Live (switching one over to mapping/2d when needed)

    Console = Solix 15 G3

    Option 2:

    Bow = (2) Solix 12 G3, one dedicated to Mega 360 and the other Mega Live (switching one over to mapping/2d when needed)

    Console = Solix 15 G3

    Option 3:

    Bow = (3) Solix 12 G3, one dedicated to Mega 360 and the other Mega Live and the 3rd unit for everything else.

    Console = Solix 15 G3

    What does the BBC crowd think...?

    I’m an option #2 guy but I would do the dual 12’s at the console too... I personally just like how I can organize and utilize the screen space across 2 units over one large and I feel like the 15 and 12 up front doesn’t play properly with my ocdDecisions, decisions.....
    Looking forward to seeing the new rig your building

    WELL, I'm a guy who hates clutter !! I'd go 1-15" at the console and 1-15" at the Bow !!

    I have two 12’s and a 15 and tried all placement combinations. I ended up with a 12 and 15 at the bow with a 12 at the console. I needed the larger screen at the bow due to my old eyes and a greater distance to those eyes at the bow compared at the console. Just be aware the 15 and 12 have the same resolution therefore the 12 will give you a sharper image. I run the m360 and waiting on Live.

    With two X2's you will have the batteries to support them, Option 3.
    Since it is being ordered, lithium would still be the better way. You will already have $2200 in X2's.
    Just something to think about.

    That's my current set up on my 2018 Z520L. I like it, but I want at least two units at the bow, one solely dedicated to Mega 360 and one solely dedicated to Mega Live.

    I've seen David Walkers Lowrance setup, he has what looks to be a 16" and 12" at the bow, looks good.

    Yeah, I've tossed around the idea of going lithium.

    Have you used forward facing sonar much? I think you may be surprised at the amount of situations it isn’t useful (mainly spawn / heavy cover situations), and I just leave it off for entire days at times. I’d think a 12 dedicated for the 360 and a 12 or 15 for live / mapping / di / 2d would work great and easier than trying to stack three units.

    Some of the best money you can spend on a new rig, no regret at all putting ionic lithium in my rig!!!

    Yeah, I'm leaning towards just two units at the bow.
