Big ol’ trout and some nice sheepshead… As mentioned, some great table fare.

Took a buddy who’d never been down to the marsh a couple years ago and the first fish he caught was a decent SH… they’ve been known as ‘damn convicts’ ever since.

Glad y’all had a good trip.

What kind of fish in the first pic? Is that a Gulf Pike?

I am in Orange beach this week and caught a spade fish last night. Also caught a remora, a couple rays and lots of mangrove snapper and catfish. Been a good trip so far.

That's a NICE trout. We don't get many big girls inshore, we have to get out a bit into the gulf to find the big girls down here.

Throw topwater more! I've caught several 5-6lbers, all have been on a Super Spook Jr.

Heck, I'm more impressed with the sheepshead. Spent my first 25 years of life cussing those bait stealing bastards... I can't recall catching any that big, and I betcha I've caught 500 of em!

I love to catch on top water, I think I have mostly have she dog variants. Plastic is king down here, Matrix Shad is probably the most popular. We get to make up for it with volume, we get to keep 25, but we also have the largest inshore habitat anywhere in the world, hook and line is not going to dent the population.

I haven't tried the She Dogs. I'll have some for my next trip down. I forgot to order some this year.

I also fish plastics as well. I'm not a live bait fisherman. But I know, when we get into them and the conditions are right, the topwater won't get as many bites as a swimbait, but it's almost guaranteed to be a better quality bite.

Speckled Trout….prize of the bays. Some guys chase them exclusively. They can get over 10 lbs…most serious guys sneak up on them wading the bays.

Lots of trout tourneys too…it’s a big deal down here.

Now we are just rednecks flinging live shrimp for fun…no clue what we are doing.

That one was about 3 miles offshore on the North Galveston Jetty. I’ve never caught one that big in the bay.
