    Champion trailer wiring

Had a blowout last trip that demolished my wiring and tail light on driver side. What is the red wire on trailer? I checked and found my 12v and my blinker/brake wire. Can't figure out what the red is supposed to go to.

    Normally trailer wiring is

    Green - right blinker
    yellow - left blinker
    brown - tail lights
    Blue - Brakes
    white - ground
    red - acc
    black - battery

I could have red and black flipped.

if someone has rewired the trailer you might have to trace it back to the plug to see what terminal it is on.

Standard trailer wiring. No red no black.

The red may be a spliced in piece from an earlier repair by someone. Red and black wire are easy to get. Proper color wiring is unusual in repairs unless its a very good very obsessive repair shop or person.

I've owned the boat since brand new. Not spliced in. When I touch it to 12v something is clicking somewhere

I have a Champion 2001. I also have red wires that go to the Champion Logo on the sides, but they are spliced.

I'm not sure this is the case for you, but many times the "plug" connector to the light used red, black and white wires. Red should be power and black should be ground. Easy enough to check on your replacement light with a 9V battery.
