    Carbon 12 transducer?

I'm catching up on the lowrance installation methods when it comes to the transducers....for the 3 in 1 transducer, is it a common practice to mount it so that it is also the high speed transducer, thus its mounted similarly to how a high speed ducer is normally mounted?

With humminbirds I have always had the SI ducer mounted higher on the transom so it would never hit anything at high speed. I also had a high speed ducer mounted and ran the the graph as well.

    Any advice?

You need to follow the manual mounting instructions very carefully. Just remember any all in one type transducer is going to be a compromise. You may get great readings for sidescan and lose depth while on plane. With a Carbon you could have a dedicated 2D transducer connected to Channel 1 but you would have to switch back and forth between the two.
