    Optimax 115 knocking noise

S/N 1B823089 I have a knocking noise/more of a metallic noise coming from what seems to be the lower unit. The noise is only in forward gear the idle and reverse has no knocking noise. The noise increases with speed. I noticed this noise after hitting debris in the lake. The motor has no physical exterior damage. I changed out props just to see if it that might have been the problem but no same issue. I would appreciate any advise on what this noise might be.

Was there any damage to the prop? Possibly damaged some teeth on the forward gear?

    This.

If all this looks okay then you may have a suspect water pump, especially if you picked up debris and junk while you were out. The impeller may also have some pebbles or something in it. All things that will be obvious if and when you get to the point of disassembly with that section. Good luck.
