    Rotted transom

Well, my post on a crooked motor has an update. There is plenty of flex in the transom after all, so I will be putting in a new one. I would like to go the Seacast route and wondered if anyone on here has done one in a Champion. It’s looks like it could be fairly easy, except for getting into the very bottom corners. Just hoping to get feedback from others with experience.

I am a little concerned about the stringers too (just want to be thorough) but don’t know how to check those. Do you have to pull the top cap or are there other ways. Appreciate any feedback!

Just take a plastic handled screwdriver, tap the handle on the suspect area, you should hear a nice clear tap, if you hear a thud, it might be a problem.

Lot's of seacast transoms on champs, it's a very good replacement, but it's all about the prep work.
