Prop recommendation for 06 Ranger Z21.

I need recommendations for a new prop for my Ranger Z21 with 06 Yamaha 250 HPDI, 10 slidemaster manual jack plate. 3-1/2” below pad. I’m currently running a Yamaha T1 25 pitch that needs reworked. My current numbers are 63mph at 5800-6000 RPM.

I've got an 05 Z21 that had the same set up. Mark Croxton told me to try a Tempest+ 25p. My holeshot is way better, speed went from 66 to 69.

I had the mercury on that rig, but nothing was better than my 25 Tempest. Also, it looks like you need to get that prop worked. Might just be out of pitch. That is a lot of slippage.

I have a 2007 Z21. I had a 2007 HPDI 250. Was running 68 to 69 mph. I now have a 2019 250 SHO. I have the same prop as you. I was running 70mph. I put an Ultrex and new electronics on up front. It killed the little bow lift I had and dropped to 66mph. I moved all tackle to the back. Gained back 3 mph. YOu are hitting your rpm range--something seems a little off. You should be 67 to 70 mph I would think. I would try to rework prop first

I had 26" Tempest worked by Rich Boger with Mercury 250. Ran 73.6 mph gps. 2006 Z 21.

I had a 2007 Z21 with a Mercury 250 PXS. That boat would run 72 to 72.5 GPS with just me, but a full fuel load and a heavy tackle load. A stock 25 Tempest plus was the best prop for that boat that I found. I tried a Fury, and it was a little faster on top end, but took forever to get there and hole shot wasn't as good. I also ran a worked 25 Tempest and it wasn't as fast, about 2 MPH slower, but the mid range and hole shot were both better ( obviously ) than the stock prop.

    I have a mercury on mine. I've ran a 23p fury, 25p fury, 24p bravo 1 xs, and a 23p tempest.

The tempest was worked by Croxton and by far the fastest. (Mark recommends the tempest over fury for that model due to the larger blade diameter). The bravo 1 xs had the best handling.
Here were my speeds being fully loaded (fuel, livewells, and two people).
    23p fury 3 (blueprinted) - 63 mph @ 5,900
    25p fury - 66 mph @ 5700 rpm
    24p bravo 1 xs - 66 mph @ 5850 rpm
    23p tempest (blueprinted & add'l cup) - 68 mph

I have an 05 Z21 with a 250 Verado. Obviously different due to the Verado, but here's how my boat ran:

    25p Fury 4 Blade 67.2 @ 5780
    26P Tempest 66 @ 5880

The hole shot and responsiveness with the 4 blade was also way better than the tempest. Boat originally had a Bravo I 4 blade but threw an ear as the previous boat owner hit something, had the prop reworked and they trimmed it way too thin. Didn't get to retry a Bravo when I got a new prop but I assume it would have been similar to the Fury 4

I have same boat with 2012 evinrude 250. I am running a fury 4 blade 25p currently. I get 64mph at 5850 rpm. Hole shot is good and I don't care if I went any faster but would be nice. oddly I have to bury my bobs 10" jackplate for best speed. Here is my problem I have no steering at WOT and I don't know if that is due to not enough bow lift because I definitely don't feel I have enough lift. It was especially noticeable when my good friend in exact same boat passed me like I was standing still with a SHO on the back. He is getting 72mph with the Yamaha 25p and I can confirm that speed cause I have driven it out to that. Any ideas what I should try? Sorry to hijack your thread but I feel we are looking for the same answer

I did not believe it would make a difference, but moving items around in the boat gave me more speed.. I put all my heavy tackle in the back. I also go from my 25p T1 prop to a 24P Tempest in the hot humid months. I cannot reach max rpms in the heat unless I decrease my pitch. These boats have NO or not much bow lift. Very odd that you have to lower the jp to get the best speed.

I am running the same boat and engine, but Intracoastal model and Bob's plate. I have two 25 T1's. The first is B and B and other was repaired by Mark no b and b. Both props max out about 69 to 70 gps, but the B and B prop does with about 200 less RPM. Last year after owning the boat for 12 years I bought a Razor 4. This is the first 4 blade I have run on my boat and I wish I would have done it years ago. I lost 1-2 MPH on top end but the boat performs better in every other way. Better hole shot, bow lift, rough water ride,.... After years of trying to squeeze every mph out of the rig, I do not miss the 1-2 at all.

What pitch is your Razor 4?
