10/2004 Yamaha 300 HPDI NMEA compatible?

    Hi guys,

we just bought the boat and I installed a Lowrance Elite ti2 7. I wanted to see if anyone can confirm what the NMEA looks like. I took pictures but they’re too big. Both are the translucent white 4 conductor but only one is water tight.

What is the serial number of the motor? Doubtful that it has NMEA 2000 capability but ...

The Command Link connector looks like this with the cap removed.

Command Link capability was introduced in VZ300 serial 1000648. In Z300 at serial 1003215.

I am guessing that you are looking at the ivory coloured trim/oil connectors. One female and one male.

Another thing to look at is the ECU number.

Likitesplit113, sorry to tag onto to your thread.

    Yam911,

I have a 04 250 HPDI number 60XL1002112 - VZ250TLRD. I've heard it's too old to have N2K capability. However, I was told it received a new S2 powerhead in 2010. When I look under the cowl I see the white connector with the blue and white wire. Would Yamaha have potentially upgraded the ECU with a powerhead replacement? What would it hurt to connect it to my N2K net and see if it reads anything?

    Thanks all for any feedback.

What are the letters and numbers on your ECU?

It will only hurt your wallet if you make the connection and find that it does not work.

    Thank you Sir.

I’ve been looking for the ECU numbers. I’ve not been able to locate it. Is it behind the coil pack cover? What number should I be looking for?

Back of the motor. Under a plastic panel and some other parts.

Should be 60X -10 or something similar on it.

Well, I didn't get a chance to the check the ECU numbers this weekend. Think I may just order the pigtail and try it. I noticed Garmin has one that is much cheaper. I assume as long as the plug matches the plug on the motor, the N2K side should be the same. Any thoughts?

Nevermind, the Garmin pigtail is the J1939 which I believe is only for connection to the Yamaha engine data bus.
