Screen Protector?

I just bought a used helix that's a couple yrs old and it still has the screen protector on it. I also see lot's of them for sale, used, with the protector still on them.

You guys really keep them on it all this time?
Does it affect the view?

I leave my factory screen protector on until they pretty much fall off... had two helix 12’s they stayed on for several years my solix 15s are a little over a year old and there still on. I had to trim the corner off one of them because it started to peel off. I have zero issues cleaning the screen with them on and no issues viewing it. Basically whenever I do decide to remove it I have a brand new clean screen underneath

That's what I fugured. Might as well keep it as clean as possible for as long as possible.

Actually, I use tempered glass screen protector from RMP or Graph Glass on all my Helixes. Provides impact protectoon and ease of cleaning. Small investment with hig payoff if you ask me.

Yes it affects the view, not meant to remain on. If you want to protect it get a glass one that will. That original plastic is only for packing. JMO Bob

If you are talking about the film that comes on the unit when new, that should be removed. If subjected to a lot of sunlight it will be a bear to remove later. If you are talking about something like Precision Sonar Graph Glass, I wouldn't have a Helix or Solix without it. Not only does it protect the screen but it also keeps water spots to a minimum and barely shows fingerprints on Solix touch screens. Also, it makes the Solix touch screen even better because it is slicker so your finger slides easier and more smoothly. My only word of caution is that the Anti-Glare does make the normally bright crisp screen dull and fuzzy. They even have a disclaimer about this on the Graph Glass web site. I love the Clear... Didn't love the Anti-Glare.

yep put mine on as soon as I put the unit on the boat took the plastic off and put thiers on
