    Trouble swapping out my winch

Looking to swap out the stock XLT winch with a Fulton F2 but having trouble unbolting the old winch from the trailer. Once the nut is slightly loosened the bolt starts to spin. Can’t get access to the bolt head to hold it still and don’t want to disassemble the winch to get at them. Any tips?

Sometimes you can pry the nut away from the winch with a flat screwdriver while turning the wrench to make the head of the carriage bolt grip the hole.

If you can’t get a screwdriver in, pull up on the winch to put pressure on the bolt head to try and help keep it from spinning.

I would also like to say that I really appreciate Catfan always helping so many people on here. When I heard of Mr Jones on the trolling motor forum passing away, who helped so many people, including me, the first one I thought about like that was Catfan. He and Don and Joe54 on the ob forums are blessings to me and so many others by sharing their knowledge. Thanks
