I’m in the process of doing the same. It’s not hard to do just a pain to get to them.

my question is to remove old drain plug sleeve is it crimped in transom or do you just knock it out?

It is pressed together once installed so it is flanged on each side. I just used a screwdriver to bend the flange on the inside so that I could push it out the back. Now I’m stuck waiting a the flange tool to install the new brass tube. Not trying to pay $40 to west marine for it.
