Arbuckle Yesterday
I took advantage of the better weather forecast yesterday and made it down to Arbuckle. Still had a small rain showers move through just before I got there. I did get ther until about 10:30. Since it was my first trip to the lake since last fall, I was elated to be there.
With all the rain, I expected the lake to be dirty but it wasn’t, it was in good shape. Water was about 2 feet high and around 72 to 74 degrees. I wasn’t sure where to find the fish so I started with a shakeyhead on the rocky points with no luck...later added a C-rig and a football head jig. After a couple of bait changes the c-rig started working with a V&M Wild Thang craw. Caught a few small ones on the C-rig and a few more on the shakeyhead with a little minnow looking bait. All were small fish...one Smallie. When I got back to the dock at the end of the day, a fellow asked me if I would take his picture. He pulled out a 7.78 pounder that he caught. I was a heavy fish that I don’t think had spawned out yet.
Don't worry Ma'am....
I'm only here for the Bass.
