New to Yamaha. 2006 225 HDPI additives

Just bought a boat with a '06 225 HDPI. What additives do I need to be running with these older Yamaha's? Thanks.

A lot of people run Ring Free, as well as a slough of other additives. I cant find the thread right now, but a guy actually looked into the chemicals that are in the additives, and I believe that most all of them are kerosene and/or alcohol. I am starting to come to form the opinion that most additives are snake oil. If they make you feel better about things, then by all means go for it. That being said, if you are using an alcohol based additive (like many of those claiming to remove carbon) then why not use ethanol fuel? Ethanol is an alcohol additive as well...

Just run top tier fuel. More important is the 2 stroke oil.

Just don’t run Yamalube oil. It’s horrible for smoke and building carbon.

Or Premium plus. Both work great.

Not a additive fan other than seafoam or ring free for carbon. But I do run non ethanol premium fuel and a good synthetic 2 stroke oil. Yamalube is a good oil BUT it is also dirty. Have the injectors cleaned and prop the boat to upper 5k to 6k RPM and it will live a long life. run poor fuel, lug the engine by overpropping or a bad injector will rattle the locating pins out or detonate so badly it will destroy a piston. Like 201PRO said...don't run Yamalube. It cokes up stuff like crazy. I have switched to Pennzoil XLF.

Pennzoil XLF... Less smoke than Yamalube. Been running Pennzoil for the past 8 years no issue.
