My son is stationed at Fort Drum, I am thinking about making a trip to see him June 17-20. Is there any where we can bass fish(catch & release) nearby? Reading the regulation it appears all of Jefferson County and St Lawrence County is closed until Saturday June 19. What about Henderson Bay and Chaumont Bay? I am not sure how those areas fall in the regulation? Any help would be appreaciated.
Yes Henderson and Chaumont are also closed until the 19th. However, Pike and Walleye season is open statewide so you could try to catch those species. If you want to fish for bass only, Lake Bonaparte is open for C&R bass or you could go a little south to region 6 where C&R is open year round. Sandy Pond and Oneida are a short drive. If you want to fish Lake Ontario for smallmouth you could go out of Oswego.
