    2006 Etec 200 HO

I'm thinking about taking a look at a boat with a 2006 200 etec ho. I have no concerns about the boat itself but I'm hesitant about the motor. It only has 90 hours on it and has sat for the past 3 years. Owner says he replaced the battery he took it out and it ran great. I'll have a chance to run it but I'm still concerned long term about support, etc.

Am I right to have concerns?

I had one. Blew the engine because of detonation failure. When I was reading all of the history for this model of engine there were many failures in cylinder #6. That was the same cylinder that failed on mine. I rebuilt the engine and it ran fine for the next 5 years until I traded in the boat. Just do a compression check. You can also send the injectors out for cleaning and testing.
