Portage Lake - Onekama

I am considering heading up north for a few days next week to do some bass fishing. I will likely be staying around Cadillac, but want to drive over to Portage Lake in Onekama and fish there. I have never fished Portage before and have no idea what to expect. Any suggestions or pointers on this lake? Any other lakes I between Cadillac and Onekama that I should fish? I thank you in advance for any suggestions you have.

it has been many years since i have been there but we would fish the east end in the morning with top water and then fish the shoot that when out after with tubes had many good days catching small mouth there
