There is a parts bulletin from Nitro out now. They are replacing the plastic dust covers with aluminum ones. Check with your dealer to get a replacement set.

Anyone have an update on when the new dust covers will arrive? My dealer was told end of July. Haven't been able use my boat since Jun 10th.
    Hope you catch a Big'un!

Anyone got a link to the bulletin? Stopped by my dealer(cabelas) today and they didn't know anything about it.

My new 2022 Z21 XL was just received by BPS and I hope to have delivery next week. I went down to see it today and all caps are the new aluminum. No more plastic. I talked to the service manager down there and they indicated that many of the issues with the plastic caps were due to folks hitting curbs or using the hubs as steps to get into the boat. Not sure how true all that is but, I am guess they see it all. I suspect that is only part of the problem. Regardless they have switched over to all alum now.

I would run from that service department. The issue is nitro uses a third party cap and not the vortex caps. They are thinner plastic. And only require like 5 lbs torque and if you over tightened them or the factory did they break.

I replaced 3 in the first month on my 2021 z21 pro

The caps on mine ('21 model) say dexter vortex right on them and still broke. I read somewhere that they are supposed to be hand tightened.

Good feedback and info. Appreciate that and just shows more value in these discussions with "real-world" folks. I will be sure to look into that more closely.

Install the plastic caps by hand only snugging enough to compress the o ring about half way and your problem is solved. Nitro never teaches employees how to install and they all get way over tightened. Seems they don’t bother to tell their dealers or anyone what the problem is.
