    RePower my Stroker

Currently I have a 2001 Mercury 225X short shaft. I was thinking that the new 250R would be the way to go but have heard they just don’t do well on our boats. What would be the best move to make here?

The best motor would be a 300R
but the 250R will work just fine. Setup is different with the large lower unit. It will runs little higher then th 3 lite not sure about the 2.5. There’s a learning curve also in driving
The best all round prop unfortunately is the Max 5. ($2000 unless they have come down)

Mine runs 90 (250R) loaded 400 lb of meat,2 power poles, full gas, front step/ice chest back compartments full and I have a second compartment in the front

I would keep that 225x shorty even if you get a new motor!

The 250r drives totally different than the 2 strokes. There is a learning curve for sure! Like Connor said , go ahead and figure an extra $2500 for a prop, your going to need it.Fully loaded I'm now running 91 @6110 .
