That would definitely be tough conditions.

Beaver is the big lake here in NWA. Bass fishing can be tough, but if you just want to catch fish, it has a lot of bluegill. Lake Fort Smith south of Fayetteville has a lot of small crappie and quite a few small spotted bass too. It's a really scenic lake too.

No, never have fished Paris, it's a little bit outside of my day trip range.

It was tough fishing yesterday with lake at 682.5. Right now 682.9 and rising. High water you can deal with. No high water ramps, mgmt slow to move docks up daily as water rises, launching in shallow water, lack of parking as high water covers parking lot, etc. Partner had to remove shoes and socks and wade 6 - 8 feet to reach dock after parking my boat. Then the pucker factor maxed out as I brought boat up to dock in very shallow water to get my partner. Felt like I could reach over the side and touch bottom. Brand new 4-stroke motor and brand new B&B'd Fury prop.

But my partner caught a keeper Walleye and a 5# - 6# White Bass. Together, we caught a few short fish and three Largemouth between 2# - 3# and I caught a Meanmouth hybrid. Largemouth/Kentucky Spot. Regardless of the high water, it's great to be out on the lake on a beautiful day like yesterday.

On that note, just hit 12,000

If you go that far you might as well go to Lake Dardanelle or Nimrod.

Fish it quite often, not very big but I've had some good days there. Always get a good show from the resident eagles. Don't know if you've ever been there, but DO NOT go there in the winter if the roads are icy! Access road is very steep and not much parking (but usually enough). Why not make it a twofer - 1/2 day at Paris and 1/2 day a Cove Lake.

Go to Dardanelle (Illinois Bayou) and throw a Frog and swim a jig early in the grass. After late morning, vertical jig a Crappie Jig on the rip rap (4’- 8’) for Crappie. You will have a blast...
