    1992 gambler. 1993 mercury 200 hp. Performance??

Performance question. 1992 206gs. 93 mercury 2.5 Lxri 200 hp. Stock gambler 5.5 inch jack plate. Prop shaft 4 inches below pad. Has a quicksilver laser 2 25pitch prop that came on it. With myself three batteries and five gallons of gas I am 67pm at 6000 rpm. I have another hole on motor I can go up to decrease prop shaft difference. I know there are better props that I can buy and I also have 4 inch jack plate spacers that may or may not fit. Any recommendations? I would like to go faster but I’m not trying to win any races. Boat has low hours and all original. While seats are getting upholstered i am buttoning up all other items.

An 8" jack plate and a 25" tempest should get you a little more speed. That laser prop is not made for speed and the tempest should help your prop slip..

Thanks mdtritn21. Sounds like a starting point. Now I do not have a custom lower unit so a 4” below pad height is likely where I should stay due to water pick up right?

I would move up to 3.5" below and if water pressure is good continue moving up in 1/4" increments until speed drops or water pressure went below 20# then drop back 1/4".
