    08 ranger z520 with 225 hpdi

trying to set up a new to me 2008 ranger z520 with 225 hpdi. The boat is rated for 250 so i know i am under powered. I have a manual 6" jack plate running a 25 t1 yamaha prop. What should my prop to pad be for this thing to perform as it should? Also what should i expect to see with full tournament load and 45 gallons gas? Any info would be great and if i need different prop etc. thanks in advance

These newer Rangers seem to run best around 3" to 3.25" below the pad. When setup correctly, the Z520 is one of the fastest Rangers made in my opinion, running from low 70s loaded to as high as mid 70s light. But that's with the standard 250 hp motor. With the 225 hp motor I think you would likely see around mid 60s loaded to high 60s light.

    What's it running now?

The best bang for the buck would be calling HydroTec. I put a Phase1 kit on my 2000 520DVX w/ a 2006 225hpdi. They said it was good for about 35hp. Cut the heads down to bump compression and install carbon fiber reeds. Just have to run 91 octane or more. I do that anyway. Hope shot and top end will benefit. I’ve seen 72mph gps loaded and don’t know how much more it would do. I don’t have enough seat time yet. HydroTec was great to deal with, Wayne and his staff are the Yamaha gurus.
