Test ran 2017 sho 250 info help??

Ok ran a 2010 ranger z22 with a sho motor on it
Just a bit ago it ran great. They guy said he did the 300 upgrade to the 250? Not sure how to confirm that? I mean it ran upper 60s on a z22 i think he may not be lying.

But here is the serial number i got off motor
    vf250la 6cbL 1000490

I cant find anything to confirm year or anything?

Also i checked oil it was right on the second 0, i know usually if its inbetween the two 0's its good but this was up by the top one? Is that not normal or?

We ran it wide open it was turning just a hair over the 6000 rpm on the gauge is that to much for that motor?

What he did was flash the ECU to get to 300 horsepower. The 200, 225 and 250 Yamaha SHOs are the same with the exception of the computer. If it ran upper 60s on that barge, he's probably telling you the truth. I personally don't know how to confirm other than a dealer hooking it to a laptop and checking the ECU, or he as a receipt showing where he paid for the flash.

That's normal, anything between the two holes is fine.

6000 RPM is OK. They are limited to 6250. Ideally 5800-6000 at WOT is best for them.

Who said that it was a 2017 motor?

Yamaha parts catalog indicates it was made between Oct 2009 and April 2010. There should be a label on the side of the motor opposite from the ID tag that indicates the month and year of manufacture. Placed into service Sept 2010. Makes sense if installed on a 2010 boat.

Oil anywhere between the minimum and maximum level indications on the dip stick is acceptable.

    From a previous post:
He says its a 2017 sho powerhead, not sure if that means it was replaced or rebuilt in 2017?

He told me just the power head was replaced?
So is that possible and still have those serial#s?
