No, that would put the 24v back into the charger, same as the trolling motor. You would have to wire the batteries in parallel to charge with a single charger. Meaning pos to pos and neg to neg. it’s not worth the trouble.

Two 12 volt batteries in series. Battery A and battery B.

If you connect the 12 volt charger to the ground and positive of 12 volt battery A, or the charger to the ground and positive of 12 volt battery B, it will charge each battery.

The ground of one battery to the positive of the other battery, no. A 12 volt charger cannot power a 24 volt circuit.

The Trollbridge 12X24 will connect the batteries in parallel automatically so you can charge them from a single 12 volt charger and you get the benefit of having the alternator in your outboard charge them when you are not trolling. You may not even need the charger, most find that the batteries are already fully charged by the time they get back to the trailer.

    Nope.

Just connect the negative cable of the charger to the negative post of a battery. Then connect the positive cable of the charger to the positive post of the same battery.

Yes, unless you have 2 chargers

    Yes.

Unless you jumper the charger leads to the second battery. Both batteries will then be charged.

I'm not going to delve into whether that would work or not, but I don't like it. After thinking a bit it would not work because the jumper would put positive and negative potential on the plus lead of the charger at the same time I think you'd have smoke.

I agree with you. Don't like it. Won't work.

Well damn. I had it working earlier this morning. Seemed just fine. Both batteries drawing current with a 12 volt input.

Now I am not getting the same results.

    Back to the la-bo-ra-tory.

I withdraw my comments upon further review.

Without removing the jumper, it can’t be done.

You can hook a set of leads from a multi bank charger to each battery or charge them with 2 separate battery chargers but you can't jump a set of leads off of one charger, you would be hooking up a direct short if you did that.

My head was up my ass when I posted about one charger charging two batteries. I apologize. A failed test. I am embarrassed.

100% in agreement with you. My bad as the kids say.

Can you delete the image so as not to let anyone else be the fool that I was?

I know that now. From a shower of sparks in my revised test.

Can you delete that stupid image please?

You can revise anything you post but not on a quote post of someone elses. We all learn from these posts, might as well leave it.
