    Caracal Mercury 225/4s props

Would like owners with this combination to share information.
    - prop type pitch and # blades?
    - stock box prop or a true pitch worked prop?
    - max rpm at wot?
    - boat add on’s poles, 24V or 36V TM?
    - lead or lithium TM batteries?
    - fuel tank configuration?
    - fixed or hydraulic plate?
My new rig has a Fury 3 blade 24 currently on the build sheet. Set up Mercury 225/4s, rear tanks, 36V lead batteries, 8’ blades (2), atlas plate. Looking for advice if the Fury 3/24 would be a good all around prop?
    Thanks Wayne

Mine is very close match to yours,, other than being a 2017.
the fury3/24 is a good choice, rpm should be 58-5900. 72ish top end. Hole shot mite be so so with fuel/ live wells full.
I run a fury3/23, primarily for hole shot. Run the atlas around 4.
    you willl love the boat.

My boat is a 2021 Caracal, 225 Pro XS 4 stroke. 2 poles 3 lead acid trolling batteries, 1 agm cranking. MG Tour Pro 36V motor. Rear 26 gallon tanks. Runs 72-73 mph with two guys, too much tackle and full port tank 1/2 full starboard at 5800 rpms with a fury 3 24p. Bobs plate between 2 and 3. Only have 4 hrs on it so still learning it. Hole shot is solid. You will love that rig! I will be trying a 23p 3 blade fury when I can get my hands on one.

For some reason mine was ordered (as an $80 upgrade) with a 4 blade Fury.

Am I going to want to switch that?

In my opinion Id run the 4 blade either a bravo or a fury 4 on the caracal, the boat needs alot of stern lift imo. And once you go 4 blade on that boat its like a totally different rig. I had a 2016 2s, 33/10 fuel system. one pole. 3-27s, 1-31 agm I would get 71 out of a 24/4 fury, and 73 with a 24/3 fury. Hole shot on the 4 was awsome.

The 4.6L V8 Mercury needs to run at 6200 RPMs WOT. If your not achieving that with your boat/load/rigging your loosing out on fuel economy and midrange/top end performance. Don has agreed with this same assessment on the 4 stroke board.

A caracal will never turn 6200 rpms with a 24 fury. Not even close. More like 58-6000 on a good day. The speed is where basscat says it should be at @ 72-74 with that prop. I highly doubt basscat does not know this when proping a new boat. Not all new mercs are the same. Some run good and some run great.

Prop size between boat have a lot of factors that need to be taken into account, one of the main ones being elevation. Here in AZ we have heat and some elevation. Run a 23P Fury 3 at elevations of 1600-2200ft but can prop up when at Havasu where elevation is lower and run same rpms and more speed.

Muz it is confusing. The dealer you ordered your boat from should know what prop will work best for you. Props are ridiculous in price now. Most people cant go buy 3 props and hope one is the best. The 24 fury is usually the prop of choice. If your are worried get the 23 fury instead. The caracal is not a speed boat anyways. Low 70s is the norm. Its a fantastic boat whether it runs 73 or 70.

It's really pretty simple. The Mercury 4.6L V8 is designed to perform at it's optimum when it's propped to run at 6200 rpms at WOT. The speed is going to be what it is when you reach that benchmark. This benchmark is also dependant on climatic conditions and may require two different pitch propellers if you use the rig in 40° weather and 90°+ weather. I run a trued up 23P Fury 3 blade at 6200 rpms WOT with all PVS holes plugged in the humid high temp summer months and switch to a 24P in the cooler months to keep the rpms at 6200 at WOT due to increased engine performance/lower humidity.

I have been running a 24P Trophy+ to include tournaments with two guys, gear and full livewells. The hole shot was a little slow but not awful. I originally had all the PVS holes plugged with solids and the exhaust ring on the prop. I replaced the solids with all smalls to let the prop spool up when loaded down. I haven’t tested with a full tournament load yet but have gone out with 2 guys and hole shot was much better. WOT RPM was 5950 back in the winter but has dropped some. I am trying to get my hands on a 23P Trophy or Fury 4 to try.
