I will not debate on someone doing 80 mph with a 24 pitch because some have said that they are doing. I will not dispute their word. . But according to Mercury Racing prop slip calculator you would have to get 6200 rpm (rev limiter ) and have 1% slip to hit 80 mph. I don't think that it is possible with a 24 pitch. I know that we have a few very well tuned BCB's that are actually busting 80 mph but I don't think they are doing it with a 24 pitch prop. IMHO.

My 2016 Puma has a 250 SHO with a 26 pitch SHO prop. With just a driver, 25% fuel, empty live wells, and the normal fishing stuff, it will touch a shade over 80 with enough chop on the water to free the hull.

Either people are FOS, or the Merc slip calculator is wrong.

26 T-2 prop on my 2018 Eyra with a SHO would hit 80-81.....on the limiter and it is still 7% slip. That is reasonable slip from a good prop. With my 2020 eyra 300R I can hit 87 with a 27 VMX at 6400 RPM and that is 8% slip.

It is not just the Mercury Racing Calculator.....there are several out there. BBlades has a very accurate prop slip calculator.

The fury 24 will be more like a 25 on a calculator also.

I have never heard that a Fury is one pitch over. I have a good friend that I will ask....Ronnie Gilbert. I do know that the Bravo's are over rated in pitch but it also depends on which pitch you get because of the way they pitch them up from the even numbers.

You will still have a hard time hitting 80 with a 25.....as said that is still a 5% slip and would be a very efficient run. I feel great with a 8% on my VMX and anything below a 11% on a Bravo is good!!! I have hit 5% with a Max 5 ST but could only turn 28 pitch to 5900 rpm.

2019 puma 250 pro Xs 4 stroke 24 fury 3 . I have run 80.4 on three occasions at sea level running into a headwind ( 10 mph or so ) . This is on a tidal fishery but not with any significant current . I do not regularly scare 80 mph . 77 - 78 is standard . For me 77-79 sea level , 76-78 at 500 feet , 74-77 at 1500 ft. Elevation under most conditions . Extreme heat , water temps and or ridiculous load is a whole different deal . As for prop potential I have no idea . Just what the gps tells me .

2021 Eyra, poles, 4 31 agms, garmin units and force. 77.8 @ 6050-6075 with a 24/3 fury. Fairly loaded and just me. I dont know how guys are squeaking out the last bit of rpm with these new motors. I think the boat had a bit more that day and could of seen 80 if I could of stayed on it. I'm the odd one of the bunch that prefers a 4 blade, I've run two different bravos on that new 4s mercury and one ran 75.2 other ran 76.8 (it was croxton repaired)

79.4 mph one man, empty livewell, 55 air temp, 58 water temp. Lake with no current and slight chop. I’m pretty sure I can get there but I’ll need perfect conditions! Speed freaks know it’s all about the conditions… 24p Fury 3 factory

I believe for the current 250 XS Mercury only offers a 1.75 gear. You can get a 1.60 in a Sport Master lower unit.

Maybe some of these 24 Fury's are running stiff. These prop slip calculators have been used fairly accurately for years but your pitch has to be measured right and the tach has to be accurate. Who's to say?

Like I sad before....I have heard of folks getting 80 with the 24 Fury 3 but have not personally seen it and the math does not add up if everything is accurate. But I know these Cats can do great things!!!!!

It really shouldn't depend on boat type. It's math, and something is wrong. For these purposes, only gps speeds and only Merc Monitor type rpm should be used. Otherwise, the calculator is worthless. My last two tachs were off by 300 rpm

Use 24.75 for pitch on a 24 Fury as they are stiff, comes out at 4 percent. This is realistic for this gearcase and light loads under perfect conditions
