HDS 9 or 12 for dedicated Active Target

I should be getting my Triton in the next few weeks and I’m going to have Active Target installed at the dealer. I’ll have a 12” on the console and a 9” on the bow. From what I’ve seen, a dedicated screen is the way to go (correct me if I’m wrong please). I’m coming from a Tracker 175 with dual Hook 5’s so 9’s look huge to me and 12’s are absolutely massive.

I think the answer long term is to get the 12 and use the 9 on the bow for charting, but I honestly have don’t really know. I’m a weekend warrior that wants to buy the right thing the first time. Any help/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have 2 Live 9's on the bow, one for map and one for AT.

    Works fine for me.

I have one 9 up front, and I`m pretty happy with that. I use AT when I stop anyway, not while moving, so switching between screens (AT when still and map/2D when moving) works well. That said, I would not mind another screen up front. ;)

I run my 12 up front and 9 at console for that reason.

The screen resolution of HDS Live 9 and 12" is almost identical (1280x720 and 1280x800) so it's the viewing distance which will decide how much you gain by going 12".

Thanks guys. I ended up going with the 9 with a dual stack mount.

I originally had a 9/7 stacked up front with a 12 at the console. Since I got AT, I now run a 12/7 12 for AT and 7 for mapping and my 9 at the console. I do miss the 12 at times at the console. I originally ran the 9 with AT for about a month and then swapped. Good luck with your descision.

I run a single 16 up front with 3 panes across the top and one pane (Active Target) across the bottom.

offically settled on the 12 over the 9 for the active target after trying it on both. Run 2d and mapping split on the 9.20210513_114632.jpg
