I was under the impression vault caps were threaded with o ring. As such I wouldn't think a rtv silicon would be required. now the cool hubs were a press on fit, no threads and thats a different deal.
Nope Vault are pressed in also.... but thanks for the input
The Vault service info I have specifies "loctite retaining compound" for the cap.
I used the retaining compound that I ordered off Amazon just last week. The new cap is suppose to be 1.980 but measure at 1.985. The new cap goes on really tight so I can't imagine it coming off even if you don't use anything. I know guys that use the Permatex red high temp gasket compound and seem happy with that.
Yea I've seen that but I was attempting to reuse the one after I put some more value oil in there, then found out they say the caps are one time use not to reuse so I ordered a new cap and will try again
They say they're one time use, but I have reused them. When I got new ones under warranty they sent a bottle of red loctite with them.

Vault bearing covers are ‘interference fit’....installed with dead blow hammer. The instructions stipulate ‘rtv high temp silicone’ .... not loctite.
