    Trailer Tie Down

I have a Tracker ProGuide V-175 and I was thinking of getting a retractable transom tie down. The ones I’ve seen attach to the lower part of the trailer at location 1, see attached picture. The tie down hook on the boat is at location 2 and as you can see from the picture, this would cause the strap to rub against the bottom of the boat. I’m not too wild about this, has anybody used this type of tie down? Does it rubbing against the boat cause any problems?

    Thanks

I get that time to time if my boat is misaligned on the bunks. I'm not thrilled by that because it will likely cause something to wear, boat or strap. For you, I would leave the placement the same and put the buckle where the hook is on the trailer in your picture.

The buckle will bolt on where you have the bottom hook on your tie down. I have them on mine and it runs straight up to the transom just like the tie down you have on it now.

Oh, so you put the lower housing part directly on that triangular part?

And even if it touches something, when it is tight it doesn't move and won't rub anything.
