Owner jungle weedless wacky hook. Has the titanium wires. Key imo is how to hook/fight the fish. When I feel a bite . I slowing increase my reel speed and I set the hook on them pretty good with my drag tightened down. Once I start fighting a fish, if it isnt just a dink, I will immediately start to loosen my drag so that the fish can "run" with little/no pressure on the hook. I usually lose a fish when it runs on me and the hook just pulls out. Once I started doing it this way my landing % has gone WAY up.

Could be the Medium rod is not driving the hook in??? May not be a hook issue.

I don't use bigger than 1/0, I catch most of them, a big hook detracts from the action. I use a vinyl clear invisible O-ring style attachment.

Generally don’t need a heavy rod to drive those tiny hooks in.

The wire weed guard that you are using on these hooks is what is causing you to miss fish. Any hook that uses this style of weedguard avoid like the plague!

A list of "dwtaylor" approved wacky hooks:

Do yourself a favor and use double o rings crossed on the bait to make an X and hook the bait under the cross. This keeps the hook perpendicular to the plastic and will prevent the work from collapsing and balling up on the hook point.

Another vote for the VMC Neko hook. I am using sizes 1 or 2. Best hookups I have had so far wacky rigging.

Years ago Reaction Inovations sold a WW hook based on a Gamakatsu open eye shiner hook. Best ive used. I buy the shiner hooks and tie the weed gaurd with 60 pound floro
