If you had to choose. Power Pole Vs Ultrex

If you had to choose, one or the other. Power Pole vs Ultrex. Why? (I know both would be nice )

    Depends on predominant fishing style.

What kind of TM do you have currently? I am assuming no poles currently?

x2 Depends on fishing style and depths that you will primarily be fishing in. I used to have a Fortrex 101 and then recently upgraded to a Garmin Force (I wanted a really quiet, brushless TM) over the Ultrex, but regardless of that, they both have anchor lock obviously. For the clear reservoirs and depths we fish in, as well as amount of water we cover in a given day, the TM was the clear choice over power poles.

Install is easy too if you think about it that way.

I agree unless you fish a lot of shallow water, I would go with TM spotlock. But I do use my poles a lot too but I also live in FL but know NE NY well. Poles would be nice there Oneida, St Lowarence, and all the bays. Tough choice but I would go with the TM first then save for the poles.

    tight lines good luck

2 very different tools in the toolbox, one is not a substitute for the other. Have both and use both EVERY TIME OUT. If I had to pick 1. Hard for me to admit obviously but it would be a good spotlock trolling motor simply based on its literally the most important tool IMO on a bassboat. And they have so many features even outside of spotlock.

I love my shallow water anchors. I have the Talons, and ever since I got them, I rarely use my TM spot lock. I have to add, I am usually on the Mississippi.

Power pole for me hands down. Also it would be hard for me to get use to the motor sound when the Ultrex turns.

Spotlock for sure, however if I lived where I'd predominantly fish shallow, flat contour lakes I'd likely go with poles. I'm mainly a shallow water fisherman but the lakes I fish you're typically setting in over 12' casting/ pitching into 2'.

Another thing to consider is rather you generally have a partner with you. I've seen my fair share of broken rods by co-anglers when setting the hook and smacking them poles.
