After a conference with the dealer and my uncle, I think it is going back to the dealer. That way they can check to see if the motor is doing what it is to be doing. Plus they can go through it and maybe compare it to the salesmen's father in law's boat so that it performs as it should. I know its limits. But as my uncle reminded me tonight, a team passed us with a 15 hp motor. I don't think that should happen with a 4 stroke 25 with maybe 20 hours on it if that.
Pat, nitrous you say...? Hahaha. Used it at the dragstrip but never on a fishing boat. You got pics? Ha!
This is a funny thread. MPH differential to the Max.
Most folks would buy a 40hp and put a 25 sticker on it!
After retiring from law enforcement, I try to stay on the right side of the law. Plus it doesn't look good when a Hunter Safety Instructor gets a DNR ticket.
I don't think it is the Triton not trying. Maybe a little more power would help.
A 25 h.p. outboard on a 17' boat is not going to be fast and 2 people makes it even slower.

Bigger motor or smaller boat, I have a 16' aluminum boat I use for HP restricted lakes.
But it should be comparable to all the other boats on the lake. When your boat 35 in a tournament and boat 52 passes you, that is a problem. This is a 25 HP limit lake.
