    Leaking Jon boat

I acquired a 12’ non boat for pond fishing on my property. It is constructed using rivets. It has a fairly bad leak in a seam at the transom. What would be the best way to repair it. Weld or some type of epoxy? Thanks

JB Weld can work and if you have access to both sides of the rivet you can also "reset" the rivet with a good hammer blow - so long as you have a good heavy weight on the other side as well. I'd try to reset the rivet and then cover it with JB Weld.

Can you drill the loose rivet out and put a new one in? Then you could use some sealant and fix it correctly.

Honestly wouldn't be that expensive to have that seam welded. If you want to strengthen it you could have them weld in and angle the entire length of it

You can reset the rivets. Have somebody hold a large hammer on the rivet inside the boat and you whack the rivet with a flat punch or steel bar and hammer from the outside a couple of times. If you put the boat on sawhorses and fill it with a little water, you can tell when it’s stopped leaking. Make sure to clean the seam first if anything is in there. Carb cleaner works.
