    20" HPDI Lower Unit Needed

I have a 225 OX66 and the lower unit locked up today. Does anyone have a HPDI Lower that they would be willing to part with? I want to go with the HPDI lower so that I have the low water pickup and so that the lower is coned. I called Hydro-Tec to see if they have one and the guy told me that they only rebuild customers units and them send them back to the owner. I was hoping they had a spare sitting around. Thanks in advance.

You have 1.81:1 gears and the 225/250/300 HPDI LU has 1.75:1 gears. Not only will you need to reduce your prop pitch, You will loose a good bit of bow lift. The OX66 LU can be faster on boats that dont run 80+ mph. Many think the pointed longer lower unit is faster... Nope!

    21XDC,

Thanks for the info. Mine won't run 80. If I can ever get it set up correctly, I should see 75 out of it. However, I'm as high as I can go on my hydraulic jackplate with out water pressure dropping off drastically. I may look at having mine rebuilt. Thanks again.

All you need is 10+ lbs of water pressure.

    21XDC,

Thanks for the info. Forgive my ignorance; what causes the loss in bow lift? Is it the lower gear ratio or does it have something to do with the shape of the lower unit?

    Thank you.
