    transducer placement question

Hello everyone. New member and relatively new to owning a bass boat (Stratos Vindicator 273 1997). I am struggling with transducer placement on the back. Just got a new Garmen Echomap UHD 93SV. Garmen recommends Starboard side but boat has a stepped hull in back. On port side it appears to have a place for transducer but also seems to have a strut right to it. Should I go with this spot on Port side? 20210506_130038.jpg Appreciate any and all advice!

Are you against getting a 2 ducer combo setup?? That's epoxying a 2d shoot thru in the bilge and mounting a imaging ducer on the rear??

Not opposed to it in future. Just doing one thing at a time though. Benefit would be depth reading on plane?

Yes....right now if you put the current ducer (assuming its the GT54) where you are talking, it will not read on plane.

It's the 56. That's kind of what I was thinking. Is it better at that spot or starboard up higher on transom since starboard side doesn't have a spot like the port side? 20210505_193043.jpg

I think they go on the starboard side. When u get a In hull they have a nice one that actually works at higher speeds. Its the GT15M-IH.

Starboard placement has less turbulence from the prop than port side.
