Maximum motor size

My friend just bought an 1986 Tidecraft Wildfire 170 bass boat. It has a Johnson 115 V4 motor on it. He was wondering what the maximum motor that can be used on the boat. The coast guard plate is scratches up and he can not read the maximum size motor that the boat would hold. If anyone can tell me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

There is no Wildfire 170. The Wildfire series for 1986 included the following models.

1986 TideCraft Boats Wildfire 115 F&S TLT-1660 - 115 Max. HP
1986 TideCraft Boats Wildfire 115 TLT-1650 - 115 Max. HP

1986 TideCraft Boats Wildfire 150 F&S TLT-1710 - Max. 150 HP
1986 TideCraft Boats Wildfire 150 TLT-1700 - Max. 150 HP

Sounds like it might be the 1700.

should be a 150 hp rating on the 17' Tidecraft bass boats...
