    Javelin performance help

I have a 1998 400B with a 1998 Johnson Venom 225. I'm running a Raker 14 1/2 × 26 prop and the boat will not come out of the hole and very little bow lift. I believe my prop shaft height is 3 1/4 to 3 1/2" below the pad, but going to level and remeasure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just got it back from the shop, he supposedly set timing, rebuilt carbs and compression was good on all six. One was a little lower than the rest, but ran a bore scope in the cylinder and said it looked OK. Motor all the way down, floored but looks like only 3000 rpms. The prop is a raker and it has vent holes. I haven't been able to find any plugs that will work to plug them.

Have you test run it since getting it back from the shop?
    Find out exactly your PTP.
Did you buy the boat with the Raker?
If so you do not know it's history and just because it looks good doesn't mean it is. Honestly I would ditch the Raker and get a new 26 Tempest plus. Use a Michigan wheel #200 hub kit.
If you don't want to ditch the Raker then send it to Marks Prop shop and have him put it to spec. Also have him add PVS vent holes, they are adjustable and you can fine tune the launch. The PVS vent holes are much larger than the BS non adjustable on the Raker. Did I mention, ditch the Raker?
Your RPMs need to come up to get on plan so either your motor isn't strong enough to turn the prop and you need more ventilation or your way to deep and have way to much drag. Another strong possibility is your prop, it's likely way out of spec and worthless. Ditch the Raker. Not all prop shops are the same. Some make em look pretty and some make them right.

Measured the pad and prop shaft height again, I'm maybe a 1/4" higher than 3.5". I did notice the motor wasn't going very low when trimmed all the way down. There are 6 holes and a rod on the bottom of the motor bracket. I moved the position of the rod and got the motor going lower when trimmed down. Does anyone know which hole the rod is supposed to be in? I now have it in hole 3, it was in 6.

motor should tuck under more then vertical towards hull of boat-3.25 to 3.5 is the lowest I would start IF water pressure is good--- i have a worked 26p raker and it is a good prop but wasn't until mark did his magic to it. a 3 were different pitch and this prop was mostly new. that being said, a bravo 1 fs works great on these hulls I believe but have never tried a tempest either.

'97 400 TDC with '97 Johnson 200 and the rod is in hole 1. 5.5" CMC hydraulic jackplate and Talon sandwich brackets between the jackplate and motor. Currently running a Renegade 25P prop and the same 3.25" PTP.

The boat actually ran better after I installed the Talons. The 400's like weight in the rear.
